What Is Tile Flooring?
Tile floors are made up of vinyl composite tile which are often seen in schools, hospitals, grocery stores, and various commercial buildings. The vinyl below is protected with a layer of wax which can become yellow and dull over time.
In order to maintain your business’s pristine condition, these tiles need to be maintained regularly so that they do not acquire grime and lose their shine. At MC Services, we can help bring back the shine of your tile flooring and keep them properly maintained going forward. We also work around your clock so that our work doesn’t interfere with your customers, employees, and other schedules.
Stripping Tile Wax
Before new wax can be applied to tile flooring, the old layer has to be removed. Removing wax layers from vinyl is a process that requires commercial low speed buffers, which have readily available, and a great deal of patience. Once the stripper solution is applied to a floor and it sits there for a quarter to half an hour, it is time for a trained technician to begin running the buffer over the floor. Stripping all of the wax off requires many runs with the buffer, which is vacuumed and mopped up as it is removed.
Once floors have been completely stripped of their old wax layer, then they are washed and rinsed, and left to dry. Only then will they be ready for an excellent wax treatment which will not trap in any contaminants that were present before the stripping and cleaning.
After the first coat of wax has been applied to a floor and buffed in, then another layer will be applied, and then another layer. The number of coats depends on the floor specifications and desired shine. Generally, four coats will result in a regular shine whereas six to eight coats will result in a lustering shine.
If it is not yet time for a floor to be stripped, but it needs to have its shine brought back, then the process in order is buffing. This makes use of a high speed buffer that polishes a floor through fine abrasions.
Tile Floor Maintenance
When cleaning vinyl composite tile, it is important to not use hot water since it can wax the wax to cling to a mop and give it a dull appearance. Likewise, it is important to not use products which include bleach or ammonia within them since they are harsh on wax. All a tile floor requires is cold water and cleaner that is designed for tile, and a mop.
At MC Services, in addition to offering our floor stripping and waxing service, we also offer scheduled janitorial maintenance. If you’re interested in learning more about our services and requesting a free quote, give us a call today at (702) 410-0074.
