Natural Stone Cleaning and Restoration in Las Vegas and Henderson NV
Natural stone tends to be one of the most overlooked surfaces when it comes to maintenance and prevention treatments. This is because of the myth that such surfaces don’t need any maintenance. And unfortunately, those that do maintain natural stone don’t always do it properly. Consider for example that even vinegar can be corrosive to natural stone and cause etch marks.
At MC Carpet Cleaning you’re in good hands though. Even the stains that have permeated your natural stone’s surface don’t stand a chance against our professional technicians and state-of-the-art equipment. We also believe that maintenance education is the most important part in the cleaning and restoration process, which is why we provide home owners with written resources on our site and in-person.
Proper Natural Stone Maintenance
Although using a general cleaner on natural stone may sound like a good idea, it is far from good for such surfaces. Unless a solution clearly indicates that it is designed for natural stone, or natural stone tiles, do not apply it to such surfaces. A cleaning solution for granite countertops for example may not be safe on natural stone tiles, because it may damage the grout and its sealant. Likewise, a general cleaner may damage the grout and sealant, as well as the natural stone itself.
Any cleaning products that contain vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and lemon are also very likely to etch away polish and cause discolorations of natural stone. Depending on the material you are using to clean these surfaces, in combination with a harmful solution, you may also permanently scratch natural stone. One of the most important things to be on the lookout for in cleaning products before using them on a stone surface is whether or not they have a chelating agent in them.
Chelating agents cause the minerals within natural stone to dissolve, and applying such a solution will result in streaks over time. If you have a question about stone maintenance and treatments, or want to schedule a free quote, give us a call at (702) 237-4751.
Our Natural Stone Cleaning and Restoration Process
All of our services begin with a complete inspection of the floors and work that has to be completed. This gives us time to meet with the home owner and learn about the material present and the needs that have to be met. During this time, we can also identify any damage or concerns that are present in the home before beginning our work.
The next step in the cleaning process is preparing the area for cleaning, and surrounding areas. Protective sheets, paper, and tape will be used to make sure that everything around the area being cleaned will not be contaminated.
Once the cleaning can begin, our professional technicians will make use of a truck-mounted cleaning machine which uses various brushes, turbo water jets, and suction systems to thoroughly clean natural stone.
If our pre-inspection determined that there was stone present with etches, scuffs, or scratches, we will also use a diamond grinder that will uniformly buff out the imperfection. In the event that surface polish has to be replaced, we can also remove the current polish all together.
The last step in the cleaning process will be the application of a stone impregnator, which is essentially a sealant that minimizes stains from spills, foot traffic, oil, and other wear activity.
